Introducing Cambria's Revolutionary New Matte™ Finish

carrick matte from cambria monarch find it at kitchen & bath centre

The stylish matte finish you've been waiting for has arrived! Elegant and silky smooth, Cambria Matte™ finish is available in 16 designs, offering durability, easy-care convenience and the non-absorbency of their high gloss surfaces.

"Cambria doesn't disappoint with its new colours and matte finish," says Monarch designer Janet Dawson. "The matte finish will especially appeal to people who like a more 'industrial' look, as some of the Cambria colours in a matte finish emulate concrete."

Why choose a Cambria counter top? Cambria's natural quartz surfaces are durable, stain-resistant, stronger than granite and non-porous (NSF 51 Certified), making them as safe as stainless steel for food preparation.

"The new colours maintain Cambria's trend of being cutting-edge and innovative when it comes to quartz counter tops and keeps them at the forefront of the industry in terms of new developments," says Janet.

Cambria Matte™ is available in five new designs...

Why Young House Love DIYers Chose Custom Cabinetry and Cambria Countertops for Their White Kitchen Reno

Photo credit: Young House Love, used with permission
As kitchen and bath designers, Monarch's team is constantly monitoring trends and we draw inspiration from a variety of sources.

Last October, when popular Young House Love DIY bloggers Sherry and John posted pictures of their latest kitchen renovation, Monarch designer Jackie Schagen was eager to see what they'd done.

As a long-time Young House Love blog follower, Jackie wasn't surprised that Sherry and John had chosen to go with a white kitchen (their first two kitchens were also white); what she did find interesting was their departure from installing an Ikea kitchen.

For their kitchen renovation, Sherry and John chose white custom cabinetry from a local US manufacturer citing solid craftsmanship, colour consistency, and a variety of upgrade options as their reasons.

As Sherry notes in her kitchen-reveal blog post, using Ikea cabinetry "takes some ingenuity" to pull off some of the finishing touches and ensure everything looks well-balanced.

For their kitchen counters, they went with quartz from Cambria, a name Monarch blog followers no doubt recognize. Cambria's durable, stain-resistant quartz countertops are nonporous and have been deemed as being as safe as stainless steel in commercial food preparation kitchens.

"Despite their love for Ikea cabinetry and saving money at every turn, in their third home renovation these seasoned DIYers decided to go with quality custom cabinetry and Cambria countertops," notes Jackie. A decision the design team at Monarch can totally get behind.

Home Sweet Condo Part 2: Stylish Storage Makes the Transition from Home to Condo a Breeze

White Condo Kitchen Design by Monarch Kitchen & Bath Centre

As we mentioned in last week’s blog post, our clients were transitioning from a large house – one that included a sizable kitchen – into a condo and wanted to ensure that there would still be space for everything in their new home. Once Monarch designer Amanda Willson-Suppa laid eyes on the space, she knew exactly what to do.

“The original kitchen was divided and broken up to include a dry-walled closet and pantry area,” explains Amanda. “In condos, walls are often fixed…but we lucked out and were able to move one small wall. In fact, we chose to take it out altogether, and created a very functional galley kitchen.”

The fridge was moved slightly down the wall allowing more cooking and prep space around the stove.

The very large pantry closet was transformed into functional kitchen pantry storage, adding depth and function with the use of pull-outs.

“Just like in the master bathroom of this condo, this kitchen has more storage space than a lot of kitchens that are larger in size,” says Amanda.

"In addition, the ceilings in this space were raised, giving the homeowners a space that is larger and airier. This was also the goal with the finishes that were selected."

Cambria quartz counter tops were used throughout the home. White cabinetry was selected for a timeless, open look. As well, the porcelain flooring tile is a nice light grey and in order to brighten the space.

Copper flecks subtly dust the surface of Bradshaw, like the intricate stained glass that enveloped a 16th century church this region of northwest England was once known for. A whirling fusion of taupe, tan, black and shimmering copper elevate this captivating neutral to standout status.

Cambria Plays Host to Monarch Kitchen & Bath Centre

Monarch Kitchen & Bath Centre visit Cambria's Toronto showroom.

Last week, Monarch Kitchen & Bath Centre designers drove into Toronto for a memorable evening at Cambria's downtown showroom. Cambria's hospitality was outstanding and Monarch designers left inspired and impressed by what they saw.

Monarch designers use Cambria surfaces in many of their kitchen designs. Cambria surfaces are durable, stronger than granite and non-porous (NSF 51 Certified), making it as safe as stainless steel for food preparation.

What were our designers most fascinated to learn?

"Cambria has the most high-end tools for creating the newest trends and designs," says designer Sarah Holmstrom. "And they always start from a base of pure white quartz and add pigments to achieve the desired colour."

Monarch designers were also impressed with the variety of surfaces on display. "Not only did they have large slabs to see, they also had tile and design concepts, as well as shelving and fireplace mantles and different ways to use them," adds Sarah.
