Will You Turn Off Your Lights for Earth Hour this Saturday?

Last year, over 12 million Canadians took part in Earth Hour in 350 cities and towns across the country. This year, Earth Hour begins at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 28th.

From WWF:
This Earth Hour, WWF is calling on Canadians to join other countries in sending a strong global message – that this is the year we change climate change.

The ninth annual Earth Hour takes place at 8:30 p.m. local time on Saturday, March 28, 2015, only months before a new global climate deal is negotiated. On this day, six continents, 120 countries, and 24 time zones will be united as a global community, making our voices heard through the individual action of turning off the lights.
Please join the team at Monarch Kitchen and Bath Centre as we support Earth Hour. This year, we're taking our efforts one step further and will be reducing our power consumption for the entire weekend.

Use Your Power to Change Climate Change -- Join Us As We Count Down to Earth Hour 2015

At Monarch, we believe companies must conduct sustainable business practices and be responsible stewards of the environment. As we do every year around this time, we're gearing up to power down for Earth Hour on Saturday, March 28th, 2015.

Last year, hundreds of millions of people in 162 countries and 7,000 cities participated.

From EarthHour.org:
From a symbolic lights-off event in one city, Earth Hour has grown to the world’s largest grassroots environmental movement creating massive impact around the world, thanks to the power of the crowd.

In 2014, with the launch of Earth Hour Blue, the first-ever crowdfunding and crowdsourcing platform of its kind, we raised funds to combat wildlife crime in SouthEast Asia, distributed thousands of wood-saving stoves to families in Madagascar, and successfully petitioned to pass a law banning the use of plastic bags in the Galapagos.

In the past eight years, you have shown us how individuals can come together to effect positive change. This year, we hope that you will continue to Use #YourPower to Change Climate Change.

Be a part of our annual lights out event on March 28, 2015, 8:30pm local time.

William Shatner, Chris Hadfield and Roberta Bondar Tell Us What They'll Be Thinking During Earth Hour 2014

Will you turn off your lights for Earth Hour? This year, Earth Hour begins at 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 29th. Millions of Canadians are expected to turn off their lights...will you be one of them?

An annual event hosted by the World Wildlife Fund, Earth Hour encourages individuals worldwide to show their support for the fight against climate change.

From earthhour.org:
Earth Hour is a global environmental movement of WWF. Headquartered in Singapore, Earth Hour is one of the first opensourced environmental campaigns; it has grown from a symbolic event in one city into a global movement, crowdsourcing actions from individuals, businesses, organizations and governments to generate environmental outcomes. In 2014, Earth Hour Blue sees the movement enter the most exciting stage of its evolution, to be at the forefront of crowdfunding and crowdsourcing for causes, innovation and creativity for the planet.

As Canadians, we choose a future where climate change is no longer a threat. Participating in WWF’s Earth Hour is a simple way to show that you want to be a part of the solution and it sends a powerful message that together we can make a difference.

Canadians, along with other global citizens, are witnessing the devastating effects of climate change on our world. We understand these impacts are a result of human behavior and will, without action, only get worse. For 8 years, Earth Hour has rallied Canadians in a symbolic demonstration for action on climate change. Year after year, Canadians have participated in the event in large numbers by turning off their lights, helping to make Earth Hour the biggest grassroots act in history. This year when people turn off their lights, we want them to take A Moment of Darkness - a moment of reflection, introspection - a moment to choose a future where climate change is no longer a threat.
