Monarch Kitchen & Bath Clients Say it Best on Homestars

Choosing a company you can trust to renovate your home can often be a challenge for homeowners. As kitchen and bath designers for over 35 years, we understand that the best way to put your mind at ease is to let you read what our happy clients have to say and present you with the facts you need to make the decision that's right for you.

From Homestars.com:

My wife wanted her kitchen renovated and after asking around to friends who had had a kitchen renovation we decided to approach Monarch Kitchens to ask for a quote. All of the staff at Monarch kitchens made us feel welcome and took a lot of the stress out of such an intimidating project. Right from the start to the finish the renovation was done in an extremely professional manner. Most people have had scary stories of booking with various contractors who didn't keep their word. Monarch was not like that at all. In a world that says "Buyer Beware" Monarch was a very welcome exception. I can say without a doubt that Monarch has very high ethical values and stood by their word every step of the way. They were always on time, on budget and had excellent workmanship. 10 out of 10 stars to Monarch Kitchens and all of their staff. I have no hesitation in recommending them to anyone wanting professionals to help in home renovations.

We recently had our kitchen and powder room renovation completed by Monarch Kitchen and Bath. Our first meeting with Monarch was with Kevin, who came by the house to thoroughly reviewed the space and spent much time with us to discuss our vision for the powder room and kitchen renovation.

Kevin completed 2 design plan options and took the time to go over each of the plans with us. We visited their extensive showroom to make choices for flooring, cabinets, counter-tops, backsplash, and hardware. Kevin was very friendly, patient, and helpful throughout this process and we never felt rushed. He consistently kept us updated on costs in order to ensure we stayed within our budget.

For the most part, the work was completed as outlined on the schedule provided. We were always informed of any change in schedule. Everyone, including the plumbers and electricians, as well as the cabinet, flooring, counter-top, and tile installers were all very professional and addressed any questions and concerns we had in a timely manner. We are extremely happy with our beautiful new kitchen and powder room. Thank you to Kevin, Neil, and each and every member of the Monarch crew for all of your hard work and expertise. We would not hesitate to recommend Monarch to anyone looking to renovate their home.

Home Sweet Condo Part 2: Stylish Storage Makes the Transition from Home to Condo a Breeze

White Condo Kitchen Design by Monarch Kitchen & Bath Centre

As we mentioned in last week’s blog post, our clients were transitioning from a large house – one that included a sizable kitchen – into a condo and wanted to ensure that there would still be space for everything in their new home. Once Monarch designer Amanda Willson-Suppa laid eyes on the space, she knew exactly what to do.

“The original kitchen was divided and broken up to include a dry-walled closet and pantry area,” explains Amanda. “In condos, walls are often fixed…but we lucked out and were able to move one small wall. In fact, we chose to take it out altogether, and created a very functional galley kitchen.”

The fridge was moved slightly down the wall allowing more cooking and prep space around the stove.

The very large pantry closet was transformed into functional kitchen pantry storage, adding depth and function with the use of pull-outs.

“Just like in the master bathroom of this condo, this kitchen has more storage space than a lot of kitchens that are larger in size,” says Amanda.

"In addition, the ceilings in this space were raised, giving the homeowners a space that is larger and airier. This was also the goal with the finishes that were selected."

Cambria quartz counter tops were used throughout the home. White cabinetry was selected for a timeless, open look. As well, the porcelain flooring tile is a nice light grey and in order to brighten the space.

New at Monarch: Nuheat Floor Heating Systems – An Energy Efficient Way to Heat Rooms in Your Home

If adding warmth to the rooms in your home is a priority this winter, Monarch Kitchen & Bath Centre may have the answer you’re looking for. Perfect for your home, cottage or
condominium, Nuheat is a clean, soundless floor heating system that brings warmth to any space.
The applications for Nuheat can go beyond simply the bathroom or kitchen, and can serve as more than just a luxury. If rooms in your home comply with modern insulation requirements for your region, Nuheat can act as an effective and efficient heat source. This means less dependence on additional heat sources, as well as reduced energy costs associated with heating.

Nuheat’s standard mats (squares and rectangles) are ideal for most room layouts. Nuheat Mats are 1/8″ thick, easy to install, energy efficient, and can be controlled using a variety of programmable and non-programmable thermostat options. Our electric floor heating system can use one or a combination of in floor heating mats to deliver under floor heat for the entire room. Nuheat in floor heating mats come in over 60 different standard sizes and are available in both 120 & 240 volt formats.
If you’re tired of paying for heating rooms in your home that you rarely use, Nuheat’s zone heating feature can help save you money.
Zone heating using a programmable thermostat, means heating room-by-room, use-by-use – heat only where you want, when you want it. Electric radiant heat allows homeowners to lower their central heating system while still being comfortable. It offers an energy saving alternative to keeping the forced air heating system running throughout the entire house and can help reduce a home’s overall energy consumption. And because Nuheat has no moving parts and once installed is safely encased in thinset/mortar, Nuheat is 100% maintenance free and will last the lifetime of your floors.
Visit the Monarch showroom to learn more about incorporating Nuheat into your upcoming renovation. If you’d prefer to install the flooring yourself, Monarch sells standard mat sizes and thermostats to D-I-Y-ers, too! Our lead times for ordering non-custom mats are now shorter! Call 905-686-2001 for more information.

Why You Should Hire Monarch to Renovate Your Condominium

When introducing new products or services on this blog, we often reference renovations we’ve performed in the houses of our clients. The truth is, a substantial number of our clientele are condo owners, as well.

In fact last fall, condo owner Donna Young was the winner of our Win Your Granite or Quartz Countertop contest. Earlier in the year, Monarch transformed Mrs. Young’s traditional condominium kitchen into a sleek, contemporary space. This year, the National Kitchen and Bath Association honoured Monarch designer Melissa Foley for a major "medium kitchen" condominium redesign.

Renovating a condo is different than renovating a home. Condominium corporations typically have rules that regulate renovations and the condo board outlines what can and cannot be touched during a renovation (ie. windows, corridors, mechanical systems, plumbing, electrical, bearing walls etc.). You may be considering relocating a toilet or sink in your condo’s bath renovation, for instance, but the drains and supply lines are common elements between units and cannot be touched. If they were to be moved, it may disrupt the plumbing and drainage for the entire building!

Melissa Foley's NKBA award-winning "medium kitchen" design
Condo renovations require a great deal of planning and coordination between the designer, the tradespeople, the condo corporation and the owner. A well-executed renovation involves:

  • a design that not only pleases the owner, but adheres to all building permits;
  • the use of experienced, licensed tradespeople;
  • managing noise levels and working only during designated hours so as not to disturb the neighbours;
  • finding proper parking and booking elevator time for the transport of supplies and materials;
  • effectively managing the removal of waste and construction debris.

Condo redesign by Melissa Foley, Monarch Kitchen & Bath Centre

With so many additional considerations involved, some contractors avoid working on condo units. Monarch Kitchen & Bath Centre is not one of them. Our design team is experienced with the challenges of designing and renovating condo units and is committed to your complete satisfaction. Call us today at 905-686-2001 or drop by our showroom and meet with one of our designers.
